FINANCIAL SUPPORT |
Financial support for scientific meeting organization |
Québec-Océan may fund full members who wish to organize a scientific meeting or a workshop. The activity must:

bring together at least 2 regular members from different institutions, and possibly other participants
-
support the scientific program of Québec-Océan
-
provide Québec-Océan visibility in the ads of the meeting and during activity.
Before the activity, the applicant must provide Brigitte Robineau with:

co-applicants names
-
meeting’s title
-
dates and location
-
the expected total budget, including sources of income and the amount requested from Québec-Océan
-
the justification (½ page maximum) indicating the purpose of the meeting and the reason why Québec’s Océan support is necessary.

Support for car rentals |
Québec-Océan will support researchers that have to rent a car outside the city home of their university, for a collaborative research project.
The project must :

gather 2 regular members and eventually other participants
-
support the scientific program of Québec-Océan.
Before renting the car, the applicant will have to provide Brigitte Robineau (U. Laval) or Astrid Tempestini (UQAR/ISMER) with:
-
co-applicants names
-
the title of the research project
-
dates of renting and itinerary
-
the expected rental budget, including the amount requested from Québec-Océan
-
the justification (½ page maximum) indicating the purpose of the rental and the reason why Québec’s Océan support is necessary.

Financial aid for collaborative research project |
Québec-Ocean can provide support to members who wish to organize a collaborative research project. In kind and/or in cash, the support granted will depend on the categories of the requesting members (see table below) and the decision of the evaluation committee:

In-kind support can take many forms:

Time of the person in charge and operator of the oceanographic equipment, captain of a small boat

Time of the person in charge of processing the physico-chemical data
-
Travel and stay of these employees
-
Financial aids for students: Bonuses for publications, conference support and short training courses.
Cash support can be given to members for:

Remuneration of staff assigned to the project
-
Travel and stays.
Supporting conditions
-
To be integrated into the scientific program of Québec-Océan
-
Have a co-investigator or collaborator from the government or an Ally as a leader
-
Bring together at least 2 co-investigators, as far as possible from different institutions
-
Ensure the visibility of Québec-Ocean, during project activities and in the deliverables, particularly in the acknowledgements of subsequent publications.
Prior to the activity, the applicant must provide the executive director with a document of 2 pages maximum including:

the names and affiliations of the co-applicants
-
the project title
-
dates and location
-
the total budget planned, with the sources of revenue and the amounts requested from Quebec-Ocean in kind and in cash
-
details of in-kind (time and type of support) and cash contributions
-
the project summary
-
the relevance and impact of the project
-
why the support of Québec-Ocean is necessary.
Evaluation of applications
Applications may be submitted at any time. An evaluation committee will evaluate them twice a year, in mid-March and mid-September.
The committee will be composed of the scientific director, the axis leaders and the theme leaders concerned. The evaluation criteria and their weightings will be as follows:

The amounts granted are at the discretion of the Committee, in accordance with the amounts set forth above and the funds available for Québec-Océan.

Financial support for purchase of research equipment |
Given the budget cuts, there will be no 2015-2016 competition. |
