ANNUAL SCIENTIFIC MEETING

CONVENTION CENTRE
CHÂTEAU MONT-SAINTE-ANNE, BEAUPRÉ
MARCH 9-11, 2020

Dear colleagues, allies and partners,

It is with great enthusiasm that I invite you to participate in the must-attend meeting of members, collaborators and allies of Québec-Ocean, which this year will be held in the Québec City region, at the Château Mont Sainte-Anne, from March 9 to 11. The nearby snowy slopes and trails of Mont Sainte-Anne will allow you to network in a sporting and friendly context!

2020 marks the 50th year of collaborative oceanographic research in Quebec. In 1970, a handful of Quebec oceanographers from McGill, Montreal and Laval Universities joined forces to acquire marine research infrastructures to develop oceanography. Since then, researchers in marine sciences have increased in number and are now spread out over several institutions, including the Institut-Maurice-Lamontagne of Fisheries and Oceans Canada and the Institut des sciences de la mer de Rimouski, while several research groups have succeeded one another, including the GIROQ, the GREC and Québec-Océan. Founded in 2002 and mainly funded by the Fonds de recherche du Québec – Nature et technologies (FRQNT), Québec-Océan will be renewing its grant this year for the 4th time. In this context, this year's scientific meeting will serve to unveil new knowledge, recognize excellence, and as always, develop innovative avenues of research and transfer.

On March 9 and 10, oral and poster presentations will provide an opportunity to share newly acquired knowledge and deepen collaborations with the cluster's Allies. Students whose presentations will have distinguished themselves will be rewarded with several prizes. And since it could not be done last year, the Excellence Awards ceremony will also be a highlight of the meeting: 2018 Student Publication Award and 2018 Joint Publication Award. March 11 will be a day exclusively for members, with parallel workshops for researchers and students.

We've also invited nice weather, so now all you have to do is register!
