Québec-Océan makes available to its members and any interested person an inventory of specialized equipment for coastal oceanography and ice operations. This equipment belongs to Université Laval. 

To borrow or rent equipment, find the equipment in the inventory, carefully read the Loan and Rental Policy (displayed after the inventory), fill out and submit the “Equipment Loan or Rental” form.

Loan and Rental Policy


The loan or rental conditions vary according to the category of the borrower and according to the research project that is part of Quebec-Ocean's scientific program or not:

  • A borrower is a person who wishes to borrow or rent equipment
  • The priority for borrowing or renting equipment is as follows: co-researchers, collaborators, non-members

At the time of loan or rental, the condition of the equipment must be reviewed by the equipment manager and the borrower.

If the borrower is not an employee of Université Laval, the borrower must take out an insurance policy for the equipment and provide official proof. The borrower is responsible for the costs of handling (dismantling, installation, re-installation), transportation, and use. The borrower must agree not to rent or lend the borrowed equipment to QuébecOcéan.

The equipment must be returned in the condition in which it was borrowed, at the borrower's expense. If these conditions are not met, Québec-Océan will not lend the equipment to the borrower.

Québec-Océan must be mentioned in the acknowledgments of the publications resulting from the loan.
