Conference Québec-Océan: David Pelletier (CÉGEP de Rimouski)

Québec-Océan invites you to the presentation by David Pelletier (Cégep de Rimouski) "Des ailes et des algorithmes: l'AI au service de la science et de la conservation des fous de Bassan".

Wednesday, December 13 at 12:00 pm.

In person at the Mohammed-el-Sabh room (ISMER) and online.

Summary:

This presentation will offer you an opportunity to explore the captivating world of seabirds and dive into the ever-evolving world of marine ornithology. You'll discover how artificial intelligence (AI) has become a valuable ally in the protection of gannets in the Parc national de l'Île-Bonaventure-et-du-Rocher-Percé (PNIBRP). The innovative ReCAPP and FOU RAIDE projects will be at the heart of this presentation, illustrating in concrete terms how AI is being used to rapidly identify gannet prey, age classes and predators. These exciting advances will pave the way for the creation of an automated breeding monitoring system for these majestic birds. In addition, this conference will present concrete, successful examples of the integration of citizen participation in scientific projects in a context of interdisciplinary research and CEGEP-university-business-NPO collaboration in the Gaspé region.
