Call for spontaneous applications MSc, PhD, Postdocs Offers - ULavaL

A call for spontaneous applications at the MSc, PhD and post-doctoral levels is open at Université Laval in connection with the research program 'Transforming Climate Action: Addressing the Missing Ocean -- TCA'.

TCA received $154M in funding from the Apogee Canada Research Excellence Fund in March 2023.  This initiative, led by Dalhousie University, in partnership with UQAR, Memorial University and Université Laval, aims to:

  1. Reduce uncertainties about the ocean's role in climate change
  2. Design and evaluate mitigation measures for the climate crisis
  3. Support justice and equity in climate change adaptation, particularly in relation to food security and sustainable fisheries.

Université Laval is building on a long tradition of research aboard the Amundsen to support a rich program of oceanographic research, primarily in Baffin Bay but also in the St. Lawrence and the Atlantic aboard various vessels, starting in winter 2024. Research activities will also be carried out from the research station in Qikiqtarjuaq (Nunavut) and in partnership with the Haute-Gaspésie RCM (community fishing pilot project).

To support this developing research program, Université Laval is calling for spontaneous applications at master's, doctoral and post-doctoral levels in the fields of oceanography, marine biology, chemistry, geography, engineering, public health and social sciences. Excellent research projects will be able to start as early as the 2024 summer session.

Candidates are encouraged to submit their applications (CV and cover letter, transcripts are optional but an asset to the file) to the program director at Université Laval, Marie-Hélène Forget, before March 31, 2024, at the following e-mail address: marie-helene.forget@takuvik.ulaval.ca.
