The selected candidate will be working under the guidance of Drs Matthew Little, Mélanie Lemire, Pierre Ayotte, and Amira Aker to study time trends, determinants, and impacts of exposure to environmental contaminants and nutritional status on health outcomes (cardiometabolic, respiratory, immune and thyroid functions) in Inuit communities in Nunavik, northern Quebec, Canada. They will have access to data from the Qanuilirpitaa? Nunavik Inuit Health Survey (Q2017), a population health survey of 1326 Inuit youth and adults and one of the largest surveys
of its kind in the Arctic. They will also have access to cohort data as a subsample of Q2017 participants were also surveyed in 2004. This project will be conducted in close collaboration with colleagues at the Nunavik Regional Board of Health and Social Services (NRBHSS).
